Bodhipath Buddhist Center is located in downtown Santa Barbara near the corner of West Gutierrez and Chapala Streets (behind the Pollero Factory Outlet), on the 2nd floor of a white commercial building. Street parking is plentiful. Bart Mendel serves as the Center's resident teacher.

Chenrezig ~ Practice of Love & Compassion
Every Sunday except holidays: 11am-12 noon / Cost: By Donation

All are warmly invited to join in this joyful melodious practice of enlightened compassion.
Venerated throughout the world, Chenrezig (Tibetan), the embodiment of the compassion of all the Buddhas is also known by as Avalokiteshvara (Sanskrit), Quan-Yin (China) and Kannon (Japan).

 

 
Thursday Evening Meditation & Class Series
7pm-9pm Newcomers Always Welcome / Pre-Registration Not Required: $10/class
Sessions begin with 45 minutes of sitting meditation and are followed by a teaching or discussion. Each class is appropriate for newcomers and students of all levels.

Calling to Mind the Qualities of the Three Jewels Sutra
with Dharma Teacher Dawa Tarchin

The Buddha (teacher), the Dharma (teachings) and the Sangha (community), the three jewels of refuge, are closely inter-related. We can rely on them in our aspiration for ultimate awakening. The Buddha, the accomplished and the awakened, is our inspiration. The Dharma is the methods and the means to be utilized towards ultimate awakening. The Sangha, dedicated in practice, can serve as our guide. Understanding the qualities of these "three jewels" as presented in this sutra connects us to the base, path and fruition of the authentic process of awakening taught by the Buddha.

Familiarity with our mind's clear and open nature and compassionate skillful action are the foundation for a joyful, fearless and meaningful life. Comprised in the rich fabric of our every day lives lie these timeless treasures that - once acknowledged - will empower us to live a life of awakening - whenever, wherever, whoever. During this talk, Dawa Tarchin will introduce useful insights, methods and keys to many of our daily challenges.
