Lama Khedrub

Khenpo Ngawang Gelek was born in 1964 in Manang Village, a Himalayan town in Nepal to a familiy of lineage leaders of Vajrayana Buddhism. At twelve, Khenpo moved to Katmandu to be educated in the classic ritual tradition of Buddhism at Tsechen Shedrub Ling Monastery. In 1981, Khenpo began advanced Buddhist studies at the Shri Karma Nalanda Institute at Rumtek in Sikkim. Khenpo graduated in 1990 with a master in Acharya degree and was one of eight in his class to be appointed the title 'Khenpo' (Professor). After graduation, Khenpo Ngawang became a teacher at the Shri Karma Nalanda Institute and also taught at the Karmapa International Budhist Institute in New Delhi.

 

Since 1995, Khenpo has served as the Resident Teacher for the BodhiPath Buddhist Center in Menlo Park.
