BlueTongue Homes Wins Top Home Design Awards | Advertiser Wollondilly

Gregory Hills-based builders BlueTongue Homes recently received two prestigious industry awards for their home designs.

The company was honored at the Master Builder’s Association (MBA) NSW 2018 Southern Regions Building Awards, held in Ulladulla.

BlueTongue won two awards in the evening: Best Contract Home 2018 and Best Display Home 2018.

The first prize went to the company’s Sapphire 21 MKII design, while the second went to the Flinders 35 MKII design, currently on display at the Oran Park show village.

The Sapphire design aimed to maximize family space in a cramped lot.

“This home captures the contemporary lifestyle with an open layout in the living room and kitchen, creating a free-flowing entertainment center that extends farther outside onto a spacious and bright alfresco,” said the entry of the BlueTongue homes.

“This modern four-bedroom home has been cleverly designed to be extremely functional, offer excellent value for money to appeal not only to investors looking for a great return on investment, but also to first-time home buyers, young families and retirees looking to downsize.”

The home design included a chef’s kitchen, master suite, three bedrooms, media room, bathroom, and laundry room.

The Oran Park show house (pictured above) was designed to be a modern two-story industrial style home for a ‘trendy’ narrow block.

“What we wanted to achieve was a modern industrial-themed dwelling both internally and externally that didn’t lose touch with the natural vibe of a home,” their entry said.

“With developments now moving more towards smaller accommodation, the design had to suit a narrow block yet still provide all the space owners want and need.

“The flexible nature of this spacious, open-plan layout with its indoor/outdoor flow and easy-to-use entertaining spaces makes it the perfect home for many homeowners.

“This project was successfully completed by an excellent construction team who worked in unison throughout the project, hand in hand with the designer.”

BlueTongue used “unconventional” materials – including a rendered foam core lightweight concrete liner – to create a unique look.

The design also incorporated exposed structural steel and feature ceilings.

BlueTongue Homes is a family business founded by brothers Craig and Wayne Pierce. They mainly work in the Macarthur and Southern Highlands areas.
