Republican candidate for the US Senate Katie Britt announced on Tuesday that she had officially received the endorsement of the Home Builders Association of Alabama (HBAA).
The approval follows Britt’s speech at the association’s summer meeting in Baldwin County in recent weeks. HBAA is a trade association of nearly 8,000 members in 26 local associations statewide, serving as an advocate for Alabama’s housing and construction industry and as a unified channel through which home builders contribute in time, money and services to local community service projects and education initiatives.
“The Home Builders Association of Alabama is proud to be the first major trade association to officially endorse Katie Britt for the US Senate,” said HBAA 2021 President Blake Corder of Tuscaloosa. “We believe in Katie’s ability to bring the knowledge and experience she gained as Chief of Staff to Senator Shelby and as President and CEO of the Business Council of Alabama to serve the people of Alabama. ”
“The residential construction industry is the backbone of Alabama’s economy, employing thousands of hard-working Alabamians,” he continued. “Her understanding of the importance of Alabama-based small businesses makes her the best qualified candidate to represent our great state.”
Britt said in a statement that she was proud to get this early approval, which is indicative of her campaign’s growing momentum. The approval comes after Britt’s record-breaking fundraiser in June, 90 percent of which was from Alabama.
“I am delighted and proud to have obtained the approval of the Home Builders Association of Alabama,” said Britt. “Home builders are dedicated to strengthening their respective local communities in all corners of Alabama. I am extremely grateful for their support and will fight tirelessly to preserve the values that make our State great and will work diligently to create growth opportunities for the next generation of Alabamians. It is humbling to see the reaction our Alabama First campaign is generating, and I look forward to continuing to deliver this message directly to the people of Alabama. While the momentum we are experiencing is incredible, I know we are just getting started.
